Patterned Jacket + Straight Leg Trousers

To many people, fall means pumpkin spice lattes, brand new leaf blowers and anything plaid. For college students, it also means a new quarter of classes, extracurricular activities and jobs or internships. This quarter I am interning at a film/television production company located here in Los Angeles. Because it is my first job in a traditional office setting, I want to adhere to the business casual dress code. Of course, it wouldn’t hurt to look good while doing it.

To set myself apart from the other interns, I put together a look that was both simple and unique. Shying away from black bottoms (my default when trying to look professional), I chose navy trousers as the base of this outfit. The dark shade and tailored fit flattered my curvy figure without screaming “Hey look at my cakes!”

I paired the trousers with a cream colored blouse. When trying to bring individuality into your office looks, try finding blouses with interesting details. I really liked the collar on this one.

My favorite piece in this look is the jacket. I bought it in Milan, Italy while studying abroad this summer. The print and texture are super fun without being overwhelming. Black heels finished off the look.

In this outfit, I feel confident, unique and ready to take on whatever the internship throws my way. What is your go-to office look? Comment below!
