A Guide to Cabo Mexico 2021

A guide to cabo mexico

It’s been just over two weeks since I came home from my trip to Cabo Mexico and I’ve finally got the time to sit down and write about it. I had the most amazing time in Cabo. This was my first real vacation as a grown, financially independent adult and it did not disappoint. The hotel, the food, the excursions. Everything was just perfect. I really want to encourage you to consider Cabo for your next vacation so here’s a guide to Cabo Mexico 2021:

Travel Requirements for Entry

At the time this post is written, Cabo is open to travelers both vaccinated and non. A COVID test is not required for entry into Mexico; however a negative COVID test taken within 72 hours of your departure is required for entry back into the United States. If you are traveling to Mexico, be sure to hang onto the entry visa you are given from immigration. You will need it to board your return flight. If you happen to lose the visa, expect to pay around $30 USD to replace it.

Have reservations about traveling to Mexico? Don’t. Cabo is a touristy area and is pretty safe. Of course there is always the possibility of petty crimes like pickpocketing but other than that practicing common sense and typical travel vigilance will be all you need to enjoy your trip.

Where to Stay
garza blanca los cabos

I stayed at the Garza Blanca Los Cabos for my entire Cabo trip. This resort is absolutely beautiful. It’s a relatively new resort so the staff is very accommodating and eager to please. They want to make you as happy as possible to earn repeat business. While you can book directly with the hotel, I recommend looking at travel sites like Expedia and Booking.com for discounted rates. I booked my room at the beginning of April and managed to snag a room for 52% off via Expedia. Pro tip: become an Expedia member to access special pricing (it’s free).

The property has many different room options, many of which come with hammocks on the balcony. I was in heaven! Don’t worry about crowded pools. There are at least 5 different pools that I saw so you have plenty of space to spread out. The hotel is also right on the beach so chilling in lounge chairs and the complimentary cabanas is always an option. I will warn you though the tide is pretty strong here so don’t expect to do any serious swimming in the ocean.

Where to Eat

Garza Blanca Los Cabos has three restaurants onsite to accommodate your needs. If you love doing the all-inclusive thing, then this is a great place to do it. The food is uh-mazing! I didn’t choose the all-inclusive option this trip because I wanted to try other restaurants in the area but I would definitely come back and choose all inclusive. I recommend having dinner at their oceanfront restaurant Blanca Blue.

Other restaurants to try:

El Huerto Farm to Table Restaurant: Located a short distance from the Garza Blanca, El Huerto is probably one of my favorite places that I tried in Cabo. The food was so fresh and light. Truly all the best aspects of a farm to table restaurant. The best part is being able to walk the farm grounds and see where the produce and herbs used in your food come from. Oh and they have fresh pressed juice! Ugh my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Maybe I should fix some dinner! Ha! Anyway, the staff is really nice. We were celebrating one of my friend’s birthdays and let them know. After our meal, they brought out a plate of fresh strawberries and ice cream with a sparkler candle. So cute!

Mako Restaurant at Solaz Resort: If you only go to one other restaurant outside of your resort, go to Mako! This restaurant is located on the site of Solaz Resort. Solaz is another all inclusive resort in Cabo and it happens to be right next door to Garza Blanca. How convenient! Mako has one of the best views. The outdoor bar/restaurant overlooks an infinity pool and straight out into the ocean. It’s just peak summer vibes. I tried their shrimp quesadillas and baby, 10/10 recommend. SO BOMB! Also try their fish tacos. Those are their signature dish.

What to Do:

Yacht Cruise to the Arch of Cabo San Lucas: You can’t go on vacay to Cabo and not visit the Arch of Cabo San Lucas. There are plenty of vendors you can choose from for a day on the water. For a laid back vibe, go for a sailboat tour. For a more luxe experience, opt into a yacht sunset cruise like we did. Our tour included an open bar and food

ATV Riding: More adventurous travelers can get their fix with ATV riding. Book an ATV excursion through your hotel or through Airbnb experiences

Spa Day at Spa Imagine: When I am booking a hotel stay, the room comes first and the quality of the spa is right after it. Ever since my mom introduced me to massages and facials, I have been obsessed with getting them. Splurging on spa days during vacation is one of my favorite things to do. Spa Imagine at Garza Blanca Los Cabos is worth every penny. Even if you choose not to stay here, book a spa treatment. You get access to all of the spa amenities for a full hour before your service. This includes the cold plunge pool, the sauna, steam room, high power shower and vitality pools. Lounge chairs overlook the pools and ocean. You can’t help but feel relaxed when you walk out of there.
